又如约来到武汉白鱀豚馆

亲见江豚淘淘一家的“亲子时刻”

On the eve of the National Ecology Day on Aug. 15, 2024, Jessica from the United States, a fan of Yangtze finless porpoise Tao Tao, came as scheduled to the Baiji Dolphinarium of the Institute of Hydrobiology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Wuhan to enjoy the "parent-child moment" of Tao Tao's family.

从杰西卡第一次见到江豚淘淘成为一名江豚志愿者到现在已经10年了。10年里，杰西卡每年暑假都来看望江豚淘淘，江豚淘淘也见证着、陪伴着杰西卡的成长。

Jessica's father, a visiting scholar at the Institute of Hydrobiology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, often comes to Wuhan to do research on the living environment of the Yangtze finless porpoise. Jessica was a primary school student when she first met Taotao. At that time, she was taken to feed and play with the finless porpoise by the feeding supervisor. Over the past 10 years, Jessica has worked as a volunteer every year and spent her summer vacation with Tao Tao, and Tao Tao has also witnessed and accompanied Jessica's growth.

今年6月9日江豚淘淘的第三个孩子F9C24出生，吸引了社会各界的关注。听说淘淘又有了小豚宝，杰西卡今年一回到武汉就迫不及待看江豚淘淘和豚宝。看见已经2个多月的豚宝F9C24在饲养员的精心照料下长得胖胖的，她好开心。

On June 9 this year, Taotao's third child, F9C24, was born, attracting attention from all walks of life. Having heard that Tao Tao had a new baby, Jessica could not wait to see Tao Tao and her baby as soon as she returned to Wuhan. She was very happy to see the two-month-old baby growing healthily under the attentive care of the keepers.

豚宝还很小，为了避免外界的干扰，豚宝只能单独和妈妈待在一个池子里，由专业的培训师来喂养，她只能远远看着。杰西卡从小就明白要通过科学的手段来保护江豚。

杰西卡的父亲理查德·麦克劳克林是中国科学院水生所访问学者，经常来武汉做长江江豚生存环境的研究工作。第一次见到江豚淘淘时，杰西卡还是小学生，当时她由武汉白鱀豚馆的饲养主管王超群带着给江豚淘淘喂食和玩耍，自此与江豚淘淘结下不解之缘。出于对江豚淘淘的喜爱，每年杰西卡都会在武汉白鱀豚馆做志愿者，与江豚淘淘一起过暑假。

为了更好地了解江豚，杰西卡经常向爸爸请教科研问题。在美国读书时，杰西卡也常和同学们讨论江豚环境保护的相关知识，并且向同学们介绍中国的科学家们如何致力于江豚保护的故事。

现在，高中生的杰西卡还在研究长江江豚细菌的实验室做学习，通过实验和DNA处理技术，来对江豚口中的细菌进行检测、观察和分析，以此来掌握更多的科学知识。

今年7月回到武汉，杰西卡惊喜地发现，相比以往，武汉保护江豚的氛围更加浓厚了。在地铁里，可以随处见到江豚的新闻和宣传片。越来越多的人关注到江豚，在长江武汉段里也能经常见到江豚。

“我希望未来能更多参与到江豚科学实验工作，向中国的科学家们学习，一起努力保护江豚的生态环境。”杰西卡说，让长江的微笑天使被全世界知道，让大家喜欢武汉， 更爱长江。
